Resumo: Using the language of the 1+3 covariant approach I will construct a complete theory of the linear perturbations for f(R)-gravity. The evolution equations for the scalar perturbations derived in this way are applied to some toy models. The structure of the equations and the results coming form these examples suggests profound differences in the perturbations dynamics and the presence of a characteristic signature of fourth order gravity at the power spectrum level.
